One person dies every 33 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 695,000 people in the United States died from heart disease in 2021—that’s one in every five deaths.
February is American Heart Month, a time to focus on cardiovascular health. RiverView Health’s Cardiac Rehab Team helps patients who have experienced a heart attack, heart surgery, valve replacement, stents, heart transplant, or heart failure.
Cardiac Rehab is open from 6:30 am-12 pm Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Each patient’s exercise program is specially tailored just for them by experienced therapists who also provide education on heart-healthy nutrition and stress management.
“We are very proud of the role we play in helping people recover from a cardiac event,’’ shared Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab Coordinator Wanda Sorum. “Our goal is to try to help cardiac patients avoid a second event.’’
