Norma Barrus Counts Many Blessings in 45 Years with RiverView
Norma Barrus is celebrating 45 years of employment with RiverView Health!
“I love coming to work every day because I enjoy everything I do,’’ she shared. “RiverView is a caring place to work, with caring employees.’’
Norma first worked at RiverView when it was located near the Government Center on Broadway. She ended her employment there to attend nursing school. However, once she obtained her LPN, she was right back to RiverView, where it’s been her “family ever since.’’
Over the years, Norma has worked in various capacities, including roles in the nursing home and as a float in the MSP/Surgical Unit, the OB/Nursery Unit, the Intensive Care Unit, and the Glenmore Recovery Center. She also spent seven years on the night shift in the Emergency Department/Security before moving on to Orthopaedics, Pain Management, Podiatry with Dr. David Peterson, Gastroenterology with Dr. Mirza Baig, and Family Medicine. Currently, she works in the Patient Financial Services (PFS) Department, primarily handling prior authorizations for the Diagnostic Imaging and Outpatient Nursing Departments.
Norma has enjoyed all of her roles for different reasons. Her current position in PFS offers more flexibility and allows for closer, personalized care within the department. However, topping her list of favorites is the time she spent in the Emergency Department and Orthopaedics.
“I have been blessed with loving my job. RiverView has been wonderful to work for over the years serving our community,’’ she concluded.
