Lexie Huebner Named RiverView's Rookie of the Year

Hospital news | Monday, July 15, 2024

Congratulations to Lexie Huebner, director of Patient Financial Services (PFS), who was recently named RiverView Health’s 2023 Rookie of the Year.

Lexie joined RiverView in May of 2023 and has brought a wealth of knowledge to RiverView’s revenue cycle and especially the PFS Team, shared Betty Arvidson, CFO.

“She has quickly gained the respect of her team as well as other leaders in the organization,” Arvidson said. “She has taken the PFS team to the next level by empowering them to be experts in their roles. She has been able to reevaluate the structure of the PFS team and has recruited staff that had the skills the team was lacking. One area in particular is denial management.

“The most recent example of her value to RiverView is the navigation of the Change Healthcare cyber-attack that shut down our billing on February 21st for several weeks. She quickly organized our internal team to update them as to what had happened. She monitored the steps Sanford was taking and articulated to the Sanford team what RiverView’s needs were and made sure they were addressed. We are still dealing with the fall out of that cyber-attack and she has not taken her foot off the gas to make sure RiverView comes through that event as whole as we can be. We would not be where we are today without her solid leadership.”

Below are some of the comments taken from nominations in Lexie’s honor:

Lexie has worked diligently to decrease the occurrence of denials…She is a role model always in behavior standards, especially professionalism and respect for others. She participated in a work group to reduce “sleeping money” that was sitting as holds due to investigations on charts and helped create standard work to address this problem which has resulted in great improvement of the process.

She reads a handpicked daily motivation every day in huddle. She has really examined the nuts and bolts of the PFS Department. Her drive and passion to dig into issues like A/R days, Sanford, Magnet, corporate accounts, and patient complaints are unmeasurable. Lexie mentors her talents by taking the time to teach but also listens and learns from her staff. She is compassionate and fair when it comes to each individual in this department. She is the queen of meetings, rounding up the troops, picking our brains, and before we know it we’ve all grown in the knowledge of putting our heads together looking for a solution. It has been a joy working with her! She brings joy to this department!

The progress in the PFS Department has been outstanding for the short time she has been here. She has drive with passion. She is so positive and reflective of a true leader!

Lexie has been a great asset to our leadership team. In a short time period she had made exceptional strides leading the PFS Department. Lexie reports out to our Compliance Team the status and progress on denial management and it is a night and day improvement. She is a thoughtful leader that is well respected by her team and leaders in the organization. My leaders have all commented on how great it is to work with Lexie on projects.

The Rookie of the Year should go to someone that sets an example for the organization as well as making a positive impact and I think Lexie has demonstrated both what it means to represent RiverView Health Standards of Behavior but also how to inspire and motivate her team to make a difference for the organization.
