Dr. Kari Wessman Named Employee of the Month of July
Dr. Kari Wessman, OBGYN, delivers a lot of joy into the world as a provider at RiverView Health. It’s common to see her name listed as the delivering provider for many births in Crookston. However, it’s her name on another RiverView list that’s getting her recognition this time around, the Employee of the Month (EOM) list. Dr. Wessman was recently surprised with the EOM award for July.
Dr. Wessman has been providing gynecological services at RiverView since 2009. In her Crookston and East Grand Forks practice, she offers a variety of women’s health services, including health screenings and treatments for problems like irregular bleeding and irregular Pap smears. In 2019, she added obstetrics services - the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period – to her practice.
A Crookston native, Dr. Wessman is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Minneapolis Medical School and the University of Duluth School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan.

Her patients have expressed how they really appreciate her kind and gentle approach in her patient care. She understands the concerns and special problems of patients and works very hard to meet their needs. Patients feel safe and comfortable under her care. She treats co-workers with respect. She has taken on student practitioners and allowed them the autonomy to learn and grow under her guidance. When other nurses fill in to work for her in the place of Dawn, she is patient and answers questions. Her documentation is admirable and thorough.
