“The waiting is the hardest part.’’ –Tom Petty

It won’t be long and RiverView’s new hospital and clinic replacement project, RiverView 2020, will be complete and open to patients in October. However, waiting is hard, so RiverView is giving the public a sneak peek of the exterior of the 80,000 square foot facility, along with a sweet treat on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

“Summer Treat for the Community’’ is a drive-through, socially distanced, event to show off the grounds of the new facility and educate the public on which entrances to use depending on the services they are receiving.

The road on the river side of the new build at 323 S. Minnesota Street will be open from 4-6 pm for community members to drive through the new parking lot to see the new facility from its river-facing exterior. From the safety of their vehicles, community members are encouraged to stop by the information booths to learn more about the project and receive an ice cream treat in celebration. While this celebration is just for a look at the exterior of the building, more information will be shared at the event regarding future interior tours.

RiverView 2020 is a $51 million project consisting of a new two-story building to replace RiverView’s current hospital and clinics. The upper level of the building consists of the Inpatient Unit with 18 universal patient rooms, three labor and delivery rooms, and four family suites. Every room has a private bathroom and a large floor plan to allow caregivers adequate space to provide patient care and room to ensure family and friends are comfortable. The ground level will soon be home to all three of RiverView’s current Crookston clinics consolidated into one large clinic. The new clinic will have 48 exam rooms, four procedure rooms, and four consultation rooms. The facility will also include a lobby café, relocated gift shop, and an 80-occupant training and conference center.
