Pharmacy Moves to New Location, Increases Services

Even though RiverView Health’s new facility opened in October 2020, new and exciting things continue to happen on the Crookston campus. Most recently, the Pharmacy moved to a new location.
This is the first move the RiverView Pharmacy has made since its inception on July 10, 1975, when it was licensed by the State of Minnesota. Pharmacist Jerry Lindsay started the Pharmacy in 1975, according to Pharmacy Director Brian Erickson. Lindsay is still an active employee at RiverView.
According to Erickson, the relocation is all about customer service and efficiency. “The new space is closer to the clinic and hospital to better serve our patients and community,’’ he shared. “We also have an amazing new sterile compounding suite to prepare medications. The new space sets us up for the future and new services.’’
One of the Pharmacy’s new services actually has the Pharmacy going to the patient. Through the free Meds-to-Beds Program, if a Same Day Surgery or Inpatient Unit patient has been prescribed medication to take home, Pharmacy staff will deliver the medication to the patient’s bedside before he/she is discharged. Each patient receives a private consultation at the time of delivery to answer any questions he/she may have and to make sure the patient understands the instructions so the medication can help speed up the recovery process.
The new space also includes a retail section where customers can purchase over-the-counter medications and durable medical equipment.
Customers using the RiverView Pharmacy should enter through the new main entrance on the east side of the
facility. Pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-7:30 pm; weekends, 9 am-3:30 pm. The telephone number is 281.9420.
