Magnolia Jorgenson is RiverView’s First Baby of 2020

Community news | Wednesday, January 8, 2020

Welcome to the world, Magnolia Lynn Jorgenson! Magnolia is the first baby born at RiverView Health in 2020.

With a beautiful head of hair, Magnolia was born on Jan. 6th at 1:04 pm to Crookston residents Rachael and Andrew Jorgenson. She weighed 7 pounds 15.5 ounces and measured 20 inches. She is little sister to Piper, 6; Gavin, 4; and Mason, 3. Magnolia was delivered by Dr. Kari Wessman.

Magnolia was due to arrive on Jan. 13th. The thought of Magnolia being the first baby born at RiverView in 2020 was dashed when Rachael wound up at RiverView with contractions Dec. 31st to find three other women also having contractions. After being sent home to wait a bit longer for Magnolia to make her entrance into the world, Rachael said she was sure one of the other women would deliver that first baby. One of the little ones didn’t want to wait for the new year, though, and was delivered on the 31st. Inpatient Unit Director Annie Waldal reported that a few babies were born the final week of December and a “baby rush’’ is expected over the next two weeks.

As the first baby of 2020, Magnolia will receive a care package from area merchants.
