"Brahms’ Lullaby" played through the speaker system at RiverView Health on Jan. 2, 2023, announcing the birth of Davian Douglas Meyer. Davian is the second child born to Aaron and Kamille Meyer, Crookston, and the first baby born at RiverView in 2023.

Davian wasn't waiting for his Jan. 12 due date; he arrived at 11:25 am on the first Monday of the month, weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches long.

Big sister, Miraya (turning three on Jan. 21), and the family cat, Lucy, welcomed Davian home. Proud grandparents are Keith and Betty Meyer, Hillsboro, ND, and Chris and Karla Wahlin, Crookston.

Kamille was born at RiverView, as was Miraya. However, when Miraya was born nearly three years ago, she was delivered in the old RiverView Hospital. Davian's birth in the new hospital had a different feel, Kamille and Aaron agreed.

"The space," Kamille stated when asked what they enjoyed most about the new facility. "It was significantly more roomy, modern, warm, and welcoming. And, my husband would like to emphasize 'more comfortable,' referring to the chair reserved for the patient's support person."

Speaking of support, Dr. Lauren Rose is Kamille's primary obstetrics provider but was on vacation when Davian was born.

"Dr. (Kari) Wessman and Dr. (Erik) Kanten filled in, and they did an amazing job," Kamille shared. "It's an emotional process, and we can't thank all the staff who helped during the process enough for all they did for us."

Those staff members also happen to be Kamille's co-workers. Kamille works in RiverView's Human Resources Department, making Davian's arrival as the year's first baby even sweeter.
