RiverView Health’s pediatric team specializes in physical, emotional, and social health of children from birth to young adulthood.  Our pediatric team, which includes pediatricians, family practice providers, and therapy professionals, works very closely to provide each patient with the most comprehensive care.

Why is early intervention important?

Most of the growth and refinement of the nervous system takes place during pregnancy and through the first few years of a child’s life.  This is the time when problems with the nervous system are most likely to occur and also when the nervous system is most easily modified.  For children with suspected delays, early detection and treatment is vital.  Early treatment will:

  • help improve motor, language and speech, and self-help skills
  • help stop the development of other handicapping conditions
  • reduce family stress
  • reduce the need for special class placement in special education once the child reaches school age
