Dr. Shamsi received her M.B.B.S. degree from Khyber Medical College in Peshaar, Pakistan in 1993. From 1993 through 1999 Dr. Shamsi continued her medical education at Aga Khan University Hospital, completing an internship, internal medicine residency, a research assistantship, a research fellowship and then served as a resident medical officer. In 1999-2000 Dr. Shamsi was a research assistant at Washington University in St. Louis. In June 2003 she completed her family practice residency from the University of North Dakota Bismarck Family Practice Program. She also completed a residency in internal medicine, a community health clinic and research assistantship at Aga Khan University Hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan and received her medical degree from Khyber Medical School in Peshawar.

Dr. Shamsi is a member of the Active Medical Staff at RiverView Health in Crookston, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the North Dakota Medical Association.
