Dr. Rathbone became part of RiverView Orthopaedic Clinic in August of 2002. Rathbone a native of Canada, previously practiced orthopedics in Grand Forks for 8 years. He did his pre-medical school training at the University of Manitoba and attended medical school at the University of Alberta. His internship was at Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton and he had training in general surgery at Dalhousie University and then did his orthopedic surgery residency at University of Manitoba. He returned to Dalhousie and performed a fellowship in trauma orthopedics. He also completed a fellowship in joint arthroplasty and total joint replacement revisions at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg in early 2000.
Rathbone worked in the Canadian Armed Forces for 13 years in Edmonton, West Germany, Ottawa and Halifax. He is board certified in orthopedics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has been licensed to practice in North Dakota since 1994 and in Minnesota since 1996. He is a member of the Canadian Orthopedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons and the North Dakota Medical Association.
