A native of Apple Valley, MN, Dr. Heather Neumann has been on RiverView's Medical Staff since 2000. As a woman who experienced a problem pregnancy and is now a mother of two children, Dr. Neumann believes her personal experiences have better equipped her for obstetrics and given her more understanding of problems unique to women in the child-bearing years. While her specialty, family medicine, qualifies her to treat entire families, the majority of her patients are women and children.
"I enjoy doing obstetrics because it's such a happy part of medicine and, as a physician, you build strong relationships with those patients," she said. She plans to emphasize preventive health and encourage her patients to take proactive steps to be healthy and stay healthy. "We tend to lose women after their child-bearing years until menopause, but it's important that they continue to have regular medical care- pap smears, mammograms, and other measures that can help ensure better health for them."
