Dr. Brian T. Briggs, a Grand Forks-based orthopaedic surgeon, has and was appointed to the active medical staff of RiverView Hospital in 2000. He has been a member of Riverview's consulting staff for many years, allowing him to perform outpatient surgery and consult with other medical staff regarding their patients. By being on the active medical staff , he is now able to perform inpatient surgical procedures, such as hip and knee replacement and rotator cuff surgeries at Riverview in Crookston, as well as admit patients independently.
Dr. Brian Briggs is a native of Canada, having completed his undergraduate and doctorate of medicine degrees at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He completed a surgery internship at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan and did an orthopaedic fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He also completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics at Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
He is board certified in Orthopaedics Surgeons. He is a sub-specialist in Arthritis and Sports Surgery and is a member of the Arthritis Hip and Knee Association and in the American Sports Medicine Society.
He began practicing in Grand Forks in 1979, and has been on active medical staff at Altru Hospital (previously United Hospital) since that time. He also is on staff at Altru Health Institute (formerly Medical Center Rehab Hospital) and is a member of the consulting medical staff at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, and Northwood Deaconess Hospital in Northwood, North Dakota.
