Bob Nelson is the newest member of RiverView's governing board, being elected for his first full term in January 2003. He has been a Crookston resident since 1987 and is a native of Milnor, North Dakota. Bob has a bachelor of Science degree from North Dakota State University in Fargo, a master's degree from NDSU and received his PhD from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks in 1981. Nelson has worked in county social services and as a school counselor, as well as held management positions in the student affairs and financial aid departments at the University of North Dakota. In 1987, Nelson came to the University of Minnesota-Crookston as the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and still holds that position today. He is married to Gayle, a pre-school educator with Crookston Public Schools, and they have three daughters.
Quality healthcare and rural economic development are two critical issues facing Northwest Minnesota, said Nelson. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to helping address these issues through Riverview Healthcare Association.
